Preparing for your Online Freelancing Career
Before bidding for projects at various freelance sites, make sure that you are ready and well qualified for the position. One of the first few things that you should do is to write few articles and publish them at article directories such as Ezine.com (highly recommended). This will serve as your work samples when project providers ask for them for their evaluation; which they usually do. Furthermore, make sure that you already have an account with any of the popular online payment systems such as PayPal and Clickbank.
When you are ready with the aforementioned things; then it’s time to open an account with a freelance site so that you can start bidding for your first project. After that, open another account with the next freelance site until you have an account with as many freelance sites possible. This will increase your chances of getting an online freelance job.

Quick question regarding ezine for portfolio...I've heard it said before that this is a good place to put samples, and I was wondering why ezine? Would it be acceptable to use hubpages or selected hubs as portfolio or samples, or is ezine the preferred method...Sorry if the question seems silly, I don't know too much about this, I've been freelancing for over a year now but still have about a billion things to learn!
Ezine is just one of the many vehicles where you can place your portfolio. Hubpage is another excellent place. The only reason why Ezine is popular is because of its quite strict article approval system. Aside from that, many project providers are publishing articles at Ezine for backlinking purposes and to get more traffic to their main website. They want to ensure that your writing skills meet the Ezine standards. If you are planning to use Ezine, make sure you are not just a basic author but a platinum or a diamond author. In my case, I use my hubs where I have wide varieties of topics. I only have few personal articles in Ezine since most of them were done for clients, which I cannot use for samples.
